Knowledge Before Booking
A practical guide from the GTH PRO travel editorial library.
A map record is a place reference
OpenStreetMap is maintained by contributors who record places, paths and features. A source-backed attraction entry can help you discover a museum, park or viewpoint, but the record alone does not prove that the place is open to visitors, that a ticket is available or that a private guide offers a tour there.
A bookable product has different evidence
An actual tour listing should identify a supplier, a current departure option, the selected date, participant count, inclusions and a checkout merchant. Even a genuine provider link can lead to an unavailable result or a changed price. Confirmation belongs to the operator and booking seller, not to a city directory.
Use both tools for different jobs
Start with mapped cities and attractions for geographical exploration and original OSM references. Use a destination guide to design a realistic itinerary. Only then compare Tours & Activities, select the actual date and inspect the supplier's terms.
Check before spending
- The venue and activity names refer to the same place.
- The seller offers the exact date and participant category.
- Transfer arrangements and meeting points are specified.
- Cancellation, refund and customer-support details are clear.
GTH PRO's community-mapped counts are not inventory, ratings or confirmed admissions.
Important travel information
Prices, availability, entry requirements and cancellation terms can change. Confirm current details with the relevant official authority, airline or booking provider before making a purchase.
