Knowledge Before Booking
A practical guide from the GTH PRO travel editorial library.
Confirm where you are paying
A comparison site may introduce you to another company that handles booking and payment. Before entering card details, read the address bar and confirm that you are on the intended provider's secure website. HTTPS is necessary for encrypted transport but does not by itself prove a merchant is trustworthy.
Be cautious with unexpected payment requests
Scammers sometimes impersonate accommodation or travel providers and ask customers to pay through a new link, instant-message account or personal transfer. Verify changes using the contact details on your confirmed booking or the provider's independently located official site. Do not trust a message merely because it mentions your travel dates.
Protect your documents and accounts
Use unique account passwords and multi-factor authentication when offered. Upload identity documents only when a legitimate booking process requires them. Avoid placing passports, ticket references or credit-card details in public chats or reviews.
Know who handles support
A search or referral website may not be your ticket issuer or merchant of record. Identify the actual seller shown on the payment confirmation and learn how to request changes, cancellations, refunds or charge disputes through the appropriate channel.
Checklist before checkout
- The provider domain and business identity are consistent.
- You understand the total payable amount and its currency.
- You know the change, refund and cancellation policy.
- You have not been moved to an unverified payment channel.
- You can locate the official booking-support process.
GTH PRO's Flights, Hotels and Tours pages disclose when final booking happens with partners.
