Knowledge Before Booking
A practical guide from the GTH PRO travel editorial library.
Start with the complete itinerary
A headline airfare is useful only when the route, travel date, airline and number of stops meet your needs. Compare the actual departure date, arrival airport, duration, transfer points and whether connecting flights share a single ticket. A cheaper route with a long self-transfer can cost more in time, risk and extra baggage charges.
Understand the price you are looking at
Travel comparison pages do not all show the same kind of data. Some show live booking quotes; others display historical or cached prices. A cached fare is a price previously observed by a provider, not a ticket held for you. Search results may be stale, and even a matching route might no longer be bookable at that price.
Before paying, confirm the fare currency, full taxes and fees, checked-bag allowance, cabin baggage size, seat selection charges and payment-related charges. If two offers are close in price, compare their change and refund rules rather than choosing only the smaller number.
Check the handoff to the actual seller
On GTH PRO Flights, our fare-observation feature directs visitors to a booking partner. The partner must confirm availability and calculate the final total. Check that the site and airline details match what you intended, and save a copy of the final itinerary and booking reference.
A quick pre-payment checklist
- Departure and destination airports match the trip.
- Passenger names match travel documents exactly.
- Checked and carry-on baggage terms are understood.
- Connection times are realistic and transit rules have been checked.
- Cancellation, refund and schedule-change terms are clear.
- The final amount and currency are visible before you authorize payment.
You can follow up with Hotels, Tours & Activities and Destinations once your travel schedule is confirmed.
